Quercetin w/ Bromelain & Rutin: Natural Immune Boosters

We’re in the midst of the flu season where health-conscious people often seek natural ways to ramp up their immune system. There are indeed several things that you can do to boost your body’s natural defenses against viral infections and related illnesses; such as having a healthy and balanced diet rich in fruits and veggies, getting enough sleep, reducing stress, exercising, etc.

And for those looking to take it a step further, there are numerous over-the-counter, natural dietary supplements that can effectively provide an extra boost of immunity; vitamins C & D, zinc, and curcumin are just a few examples of commonly used immune boosters that have some science backing their efficacy, especially for people who do not consume enough of these nutrients in their everyday diet.

There are also several other lesser-known natural substances that have been shown to help strengthen the immune function. Some notable mentions include: quercetin and rutin. This review examines the scientific evidence for the use of these natural compounds as immune system supporters.

Quercetin with Bromelain

Quercetin is a bioflavonoid that is found in many vegetables and fruits. It is used as a dietary supplement and it is claimed to have several potential health benefits linked to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

Early studies show that quercetin enhances immune function in cells and animals, although human studies are still lacking and more research is needed to fully establish its mechanism of action and efficacy as an immune booster in humans. [1]

Interestingly, some recent studies have investigated quercetin supplementation for the treatment and prevention of Covid-19, and one study has shown that a combination of quercetin and vitamin C may exert a therapeutic effect against the virus. [2] But again, there isn’t enough data to make conclusive claims.

One major problem with quercetin supplementation, however, is that it is poorly absorbed by the body and has a low bioavailability. In order to enhance absorption, it can be taken in combination with bromelain: a digestive enzyme found in pineapple that has some potential health benefits.

Rutin

Rutin is another bioflavonoid found in citrus fruits and many other plants. It possesses antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects and it is used as a dietary supplement for various purposes. [3]

Animal studies show a potential immunomodulatory effect of rutin. [4] Despite the lack of human studies, rutin makes a potentially effective immunity-boosting supplement that anyone can safely try.

Check Out: ImmuneLift by LiftMode

You can find a countless number of immune boosting supplements on the market with different formulas and ingredients, including the ones mentioned above. One product with a decent formula that I’d like to point out is called ImmuneLift by US-based LiftMode.

ImmuneLift capsules contain quercetin, bromelain and rutin, which I briefly discussed above. It also contains a blend of essential vitamins and minerals that support a healthy immune function (vitamin C, vitamin D, zinc, selenium).

Additionally, the formula has these two ingredients:

  • Palmitoylethanolamide (PEA): A fatty acid amide that combats inflammation and pain and helps fight influenza and common cold. [5]
  • Piperine: A black pepper extract that has potent anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and immunomodulatory properties. [6][7] It is also commonly added to dietary supplements as it increases the absorption and bioavailability of natural compounds.

All in all, ImmuneLift combines some of the best and most effective natural immune supporting compounds that are safe for frequent use and have no significant side effects.

Go to the official LiftMode website to learn more about this product and order it online if you are looking for a well formulated and reasonably priced supplement that promotes a healthy and strong immune function.
